Sandbox Effect and Aging Delay

Sandbox Effect

The sandbox is actually a theory developed to explain what many SEO experts have witnessed with their listings. We don't know whether or not Google's Sandbox really exists, but we know that the effects of the sandbox exist.

The sandbox filter seems to affect nearly all new websites placing them on an initial "probation" status for a period of "x" months. New websites may get into Google's search engine results pages quickly for a couple of weeks after its launch, but when the filter is applied to the new website, it will still show in the result pages, but will not rank well even if it is original and well optimized, or has many quality inbound links.

The usual holding period seems to be between 90 and 120 days.

Note that this is not a punishment. The filter is an initiation period for new websites.

Aging Delay

Google will not index your site’s pages for a specified period of time after its launch. In other words, your site is being delayed from indexing until it has reached a certain age.

Aging delay period appears to be much longer than sandbox holding period. It may take six to nine months to start seeing results in Google’s index.
